LINDA DELGADO KIPP is originally from Saginaw, Michigan where during her childhood she
worked alongside her family in the region’s fields. In 1970 she moved to East Lansing to attend
MSU as a member of the first and largest group of Chicano students to be recruited by the
university. During her initial semesters she became aware of César Chávez and his efforts on
behalf of farm workers for improved working conditions and social justice. Having experienced
the same working conditions and injustices he was describing, she joined other students in the
local protest marches and campaigns in the area. She is currently a secretary with the Michigan
Department of Education, Technology, Integrity & Outreach in the Child Development & Care
Program. Her day job, which has allowed her to continue her activism through volunteering with
the Mid-Michigan Chapter of the American Red Cross, local charities, and the Lansing Latino
Health Alliance which she joined in 2004 and for which she has held several Board positions.
Ms. Delgado Kipp spearheads LLHA’s annual Hispanic Heritage Month Health Fair partnering
with other organizations to provide medical health screenings, at no charge, and up-to-date
health information in the belief that an informed community can empower individuals to be more
effective healthcare consumers, and be able to become their own health advocate!
